In Situ Testing

 

It has become possible to investigate the behaviour of materials under testing conditions using live imaging inside the SEM. This technique provides information on the deformation characteristics of materials while inside the SEM utilising a specially-designed chamber that is capable of applying tensile, bending or compression testing. The advantage of such testing is that it can reveal the live response of materials, the change in grains and microstructure as well as the generation of dislocations during testing.
